Thread Starter | which is correct?
When tracking guitars which is the correct positioning for absorption panels or gobos? The idea is to reduce reflections and room sound. Behind, like when tracking vocals... ![]() Or in front? ![]() Thanks!!!! |

The bottom drawing is better because that keeps room reflections from getting anywhere near the microphone. The photo below shows a similar setup in my studio. --Ethan

Okay great! Now, if the bottom one is correct for guitars, any idea why vocals are done with the other way?

It is done the same way. Think of the amp as the person singing.

Is that a P-92 or a Humbucker you have in the neck position? I can't see all the pole screws.

It's a Gibson humbucker pickup. Yeah, I know, sacrilege. I forgot what year I bought my Tele, but it missed being pre-CBS by one year. So it's probably 1966 or 1967. --Ethan |

As good as you play Ethan you'd think you could get a new guitar ![]() ..... fat headstock '66's-'68's are my favorite telecasters. So yours is a maple board tele? (maple on maple) Great! |
