Thread Starter | Treatment for my Small Writing Space
Hi all.. Got some major sound issues in my new writing space. It is largely an office space where I write and arrange the tracks, track some direct instruments ( Synths/Guitars/Bass/Rhodes) In the space downsatirs I sometimes mic up the rhodes and record my guitarist playing acoustic. The sound down there seems fine. The acoustic guitar recordings sound great usually if not a bit noisy. My problem is the monitoring in the main Control area. As I said its not for final mixing.. so it doesn't need to be perfect .. Drums and vocals get tracked in various studios around London. And Mixing will be with a top class mixer/producer at one of many great control rooms in London. But I think I need to treat my writing area as I need to make critical tracking decisions. Main problem is that I am hearing way too much bass. What does everything think are the main things I need to address? Bass traps?.. Something to sort out reflections? As you can see from the photos.. it is quite cosy! And the ceiling is quite low. I don't want to do anything structural because it is a rented property and I may not be here next year. Any help is really, really, appreciated. Thanks in advance Luke odey on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos |

There is a ton of info on your education page (link on my sig) so you might want to pick around in there to bring yourself up to speed on room acoustics. Also this page will give you a general layout of acoustics. GIK Acoustics: Room Setup Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.. I will have a read for sure. I could probably move back a foot or so and bring the speakers in a little but as you can see... i don't have much room to work with! Maybe its better if I get an acoustic guy to come around and advise me. Anyone know any good places for Treatment services in Oxfordshire, England? |

If you plan on buying acoustics I would first contact the company you plan on using to see if they can work through your room with you. You may find that is all you need.
