Thread Starter | Bass trap Idea...
What if I took some zippered body pillow cases and stuffed them with rockwool and placed them in corners or even sewed little loops on them so I could attach them to mic stands, do you think this would make a decent bass trap?

Sure if it is large enough it should work pretty well.

Rockwool is rockwool, fiberglass is fiberglass. If you have enough of it there it will work. Not sure how that setup will look, but Glenn is right, if it's large enough it will work.

I had the same plan, buy 2 of these: Thermohanf Rollen WLG 040, 30 mm bei eBay.de: Dämmung (endet 22.08.09 17:12:29 MESZ) Stuff them into fabric just the way they are (rolled up) and put them into the 2 room corners behind my speakers (in addition to having panels on the walls). |

| DAMN... that's a good idea :D, i might try it out too since I live in an apt, so I cant really be putting up 2x4 wood framed traps everywhere :( although that would be sweet

OK... update... I managed to get my hands on 36 fabric (not nylon) pillow covers 21' x 27' (1.50c each).. with zippers in the back (easier for me to hang, since it's an appartment and i can't have wood bass traps hanging everywhere)... here comes the crappy part though... I did the math for the pillow covers, BUT I just finished doing the math for the OC 703... and in order to have enough to fill all those things, I'd have to purchase 5 sets of 12 owens corning sheets...which totals around 500 bucks... ew... I wouldn't need that many 21"x27" bass traps though...right? My room dimensions are 11' x 9' and height of the room is 8'. |
