Unless it's a scratch vox, or a VO... singer's are in the main room.

But either way.. to the door, or to the trap... or even to the side... There's really about 3 characteristic tones in the space.

Thanks Glenn.

The side panels are at the same angle (bottom edge) as the ceiling, and the top edges are exact opposite angles.

I went across the corner at a 45' angle at the 24" point.

There's 4" of 703 in the sides and the corner trap is 16" deep with the sides covered in 1" 703.

I can hardly believe that the lumber used to be a tree on the property... It was taken down by an ice storm about 4 years ago, and I had it, along with a couple of red oak's, a maple and a walnut, milled into boards that have now been air drying for all this time. - Just waiting to become a part of the studio finish work.

Sadly, the cedar used to be the prettiest tree on the property... almost perfectly shaped.

<sigh>

At least it'll live on for a long time.

If I were a tree that's the afterlife I'd want.

What's the overall size of your booth?

Now that' it's been in use for a year, how do you feel about it?

Overall size of the iso booth is 7.5-ishx8-ishx12.5-ish feet tall... it sounds really good for iso, VO, and plenty fine for scratch vox.

If I had it to do over, I wouldn't do anything different.

That's great to hear. Glad it's working out for you! I may 'steal' your idea for this type of trap design.

Did you encounter any major problems when building it, or did it go pretty smoothly?

Which? The iso booth itself or the finishes including the bass trap?

Just the bass trap and finishes. But if you want to share (or have already in another thread) I'd be interested in reading what/how you did it.

Thanks

Check the studio build blog in my sig, to see the entire studio build... including the independent concrete slabs for each room, the under-slab PVC, framing and finishes.

The only real "issues" with the iso was milling the finish lumber. Cedar is rather soft, so I did run into a bit of tear out from the planer.

The framing was the real tricky part... the compound angles were rather trying. Try keeping up with opposite compound angles of 12.5 and 7.5 and watch them reverse as you frame up around the perimeter wall.... yeeeesh...

The trick to the finishes was taking my time, measuring 4 times and cutting once.... leave the cut a tad long, then trim ever so slowly until things fit.

Of course, caulking everything was a tad on the tedious side too.... LOTS of possibilities to screw up and miss things.
