Thread Starter | Very asymetrical room. Is it good ?
Hi there next month i'll get a new room for my noise production bizness. That said, it is very asymmetrical and wonder if i could get a proper acoustic treated result with these dimensions. I plan to by acoustic foam panels, basstraps etc...but i can hardly have one 90° corner, all the rest is weird. Height :approx 10 ft Lenght : approx 16 ft Width : approx 10 ft the rectangle you see in the -poor- drawing is a staircase ![]() Any suggestions ? thanks in advance |

You certainly won't have a flutter echo problem from parallel walls The room seems to small to build anything symmetrical into it. Would work as a tracking room, but for a control room? I doubt it.

You have no chance of mixing stereo in a room that skew. You could of course try to make it totally "dead", but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Is it possible to build a wall inside? drywall maybe or something similar. You could have a good symmetrical room with a good reflection free zone if you can put up a wall. here's a drawing. you could even have a small vocal booth.

A very thick curtain. And one on the opposite wall too, for symmerty. Some panels behind the curtain for lower midrange.

If this is all you have to work with I would try facing into the bottom right corner. Also it is hard to tell by the drawing but how about facing the upper wall. If the 2 side walls are close to the same angle you may be fine. I still would treat the early reflections though and get as much bass trapping as possible. Glenn
