Should I keep Auralex LENRDs after installing 703 bass traps?

ok ok - I know foam is not popular here, but in my weak defense, I purchased it in ignorance - then I found gearslutz and did a lot of reading.

I have a bunch of Auralex LENRDs as well as their 2'x4' 2" wedge panels, but I just ordered several Ready Acoustics DIY framed Chameleon bass traps and Supersub bass traps.

My question is : should I keep the LENRDS to fill in the gaps behind the RA bass traps which will straddle the corners of the room or ditch 'em ?

The 2x4x2 panels I intend to keep for HF treatment unless they prove to be detrimental or unnecessary.

From Ethan's density report, generally you'll get the best and smoothest bass response from equally distributed panels in all wall junctures (wall-wall, ceiling-wall, ect...) more so than thicker panels in few locations.

So you should consider using your heavy duty panels floor to ceiling in the front and back, and then shift the LENRDs to the wall-ceiling junctures (where's they'll be more easily mounted anyway since they're pretty light weight).

If that won't work for whatever reason though, then putting them behind other bass traps would certainly be more helpful than tossing them.

Keeping the LENRDs won't hurt you, and they might even help a little.

Do you have any uncovered wall/ceiling corners? Put them there. This will increase your coverage area a bit and help bass trapping, though LENRDs are most effective above 200Hz or so.

If all the room corners (including wall/ceiling) are covered with new panels, then use the LENRDs behind the 705 panels straddling the corner. Won't help a lot, but it will help some.

I would keep them, sometimes a small amount of absorption comes in handy...
They are not deep and wide enough to make a big enough difference.
In bigger rooms I prefer to custom build bass traps that are 28" to 36" wide plus the way I build them they fit a corner perfectly, and look great...

And looks like this:

No reason you can't just use the leftover Auralex pieces as "spacers" behind your newer panel-shaped traps.
