Yes, but most people don't have a 34 by 18 by 12 foot room with big-ass JBL 4433 speakers. I'm just trying to keep it light here. I happen to like Jim's idea a lot, and we've had customers do that on his advice and they liked it too. --Ethan

![]() As far as "if the room is to dead then do this". The poster should be thinking about this ahead of time. They can use panels with FRK on the fronts or something like your Mini trap or our 244 or Monster. That way your not sucking the life out of the room. The RFZ is important and should not be handled with a small amount like that. ![]() ![]()

Is the same room of "panel traps plans" pictures?Seems a nice space! The rear wall looks "infinite" , for the pics , what I think is good.Ciro

My home studio is the large space shown in my wood panel bass traps article, but I have three times more treatment now than when that very old picture was taken. This short video (2.7 MB WMV file) is much more recent: Studio Tour My living is smaller at 25 by 16 by 11 feet high at the center peak, but I have even more treatment in that room than my studio. The current count is 45 panels, mostly bass traps, plus 4 diffusors on the rear wall. ![]() ![]() |

Nice to see the whole room, Ethan, I knew the "separated" pics only, couldn“t imagine both rooms were in the same space (slanted ceiling + "panel traps" room). Ciro |

Glenn, dood, no one is saying that a smaller RFZ is better. All I was saying is that if for some reason you are stuck with a single 2x4 panel on each side wall, you can arrange the panel for maximum benefit depending on your work style. Ethan's rooms are great, they are incredibly even sounding, not too live not too dead. Really exceptional rooms.

![]() ![]() No problem but still would never put a panel that way, imo and if you want to minimize absorption (I still thick a bad idea to skimp on that area) get 2 2x2 panels for each wall. It will look better, use the same amount of material and cover a bit more of the RFZ. Glenn
