Treating my room for tracking.

I am in the preliminary stages of recording my EP, and my plan is to track in my home studio (currently building) and mix in a local studio.

The dimensions of the room are 14.5' x 13.5' x 9' tall. I intend to treat around 40 % of the open space with a combination of 703 and 705 fiberglass. There are natural wood floors and a bunch of bookshelves built into the walls around halfway up. One whole corner is glass doors opening to the outside which I intend to cover with blankets while recording, along with a couple of bass traps. The primary things I am recording are male voice and acoustic guitar.

My questions for you are:

Should I treat the ceiling, and if so how much?

and

Should I even be trying to tame the room, or just place gobos around the microphones to try and take the room out of the equation?

Thanks!

Treat it over the area where you plan to record drums. four 2" panels at the most are usually fine.

Eh...it's going to be pretty hard to completely tame the room. Gobos will probably be a more efficient solution...they'll definitely come in handy.

I have no plans to record drums at my place, just vocals and guitar.

Ah...cool. Well, then put the panels on the ceiling above where you're going to record vocals then.

Would say, two or three 2'x4' x 1'' panels of OC 703 be sufficient for that? I can't imagine that, even belting out, I'd need more coverage than that.

Coverage is fine, but go with 2".
