Acoustic Foam AND Owen Corning 703?

Im making my recording/mixing room and I can't figure out even after reading half a dozen articles if....

1) I could just use the Owen Corning 703 all around the room... for bass traps and everything?

But im confused... does the corning absorb high and mid range frequency also or primarily only low frequencies?

in that case

2) Do I do a combo of Acoustic Foam With the Corning? With the Corning as only bass traps in corners.... and the acoustic foam spaced out in 48" x 24" increments with a couple inches between each piece around my room?

^^^
Thats my primary question

Im reading that I Don't want the room ALL THE WAY DEAD. I want a little bit of live in it for the music I do which is R and B.

If i can just use a bunch of Corning Panels... Ill make those plus they will look better : )

Room is 12' by 15' 8 feet high

Im sorry I have so many questions and it might be a little confusing but I'm reading before I post... I've learned alot today alone.

Acoustic foam will only absorb at higher frequencies. The OC703 will absorb both in the high frequencies and in the lower frequencies.

As you said, you don't want to make the room all the way dead, so you can use 703 in the corners and first reflection points and then see how it goes from there.

As the last poster said 703 and foam absorb pretty much the same on the high end. Keep in mind that the 703 has to be 4" or thicker (or fill the corner) to work as bass trapping which you should start this that in the corners. Also you are going to want thick absorption on the back wall. For the early reflection points What Are Early Reflection Points. SPOTLIGHT:Bob Ebeling - Revolution Studio you can use either the foam or the 703.

Awesome! So I can Use 2" all the way around the room and put insulation behind the 2 inchers in the corners than?

I figured I need a total of 12 2" Owens corning 703's for my 12' x 15' room?

Does that sound adequate?

And Ill use 2-3" Acoustic foam for the early reflections since it comes in a bigger piece for 38% into the room BEHIND ME : )

You guys are wonderful thank you for the replies! I love learning! Anymore info that would help that i might not be aware of?

Well you would fill the corner with the fiberglass or make panels 4" or more thick and straddle the corners.

mmmmmm Your going to make 4" panels out of those and straddle corners? If so 6 is a good start but plan on more. Also you are going to need thick panels on the back wall behind where you sit.

I would go 6" in corners and back wall, but if you want to split it up then go with 4" in corners and 6" on the back wall.
