Thread Starter | Loft Insulation
Hi, I have ordered a couple of GIK 244's to go along with my own custom built traps, and was wondering how much benefit I might get from buying some standard rolled loft insulation and putting it behing my corners traps. I am guessing leaving it in the packaging will be fine as it is just intended to absorb bass, and is already behind a trap anyway. Ideally I would like to build superchunks but as I am on a short term lease I don't really want to at the moment. Damn acoustics - its become an obsession!! ![]() Thanks. Phil. |

Cheers for the reply Glenn, Went and bought two rolls just for experimenting with and it does seem to have made a bit of difference. Only problem is its a bit bulky at the moment, any ideas for compressing it down more?? Thinking cling film and tape - would the cling film affect it absorbing bass at all??

What about unwrapping it and filling as many corners as possible? I guess it depends on the thickness.

can't help you there, but I would think you could just pack it behind which would compress it. Glenn

Just spent the last hour wrestling with it - Gave up in the end, 1 roll in the garage. Just took some measurements to see if removing one made much difference and it does seem to have affected the response a little. Think I will just wait for my 244's to come now. Cant wait. Thinking of a Gik Monster next. Glenn, any ideas if/when the tri trap will be coming to UK

I feel uneasy now... I just got back from Home Depot with a load of wood and two rolls of fluffy (to go behind my rockwool panel traps). It's gonna be like a scifi movie: "The Creature from the Pink Lagoon"
