half-size bass trap?? (24"x24")

Due to space issue, I'm planning to build two 24"x24" panels instead of one 48"x24" which is quite common.

Is that gonna work? Since the two half-size panels won't be mounted together, will the low frequency absorption efficiency drop dramatically?

Sorry I'm totally new to bass traps, really need help thanks.

What matters is the total corner surface you cover. I can tell you now that two 2x2 bass traps are not enough for any room. But what about wall-ceiling and wall-floor corners?

Thanks Ethan! In fact I'm thinking about 4 sets of them (8 of 24"x24" panels) at all 4 corners. But what about position? Wall-ceiling + wall-floor with the middle clean? Or just place them where usual 24"x 48" would fit (plus a mini palm plant below)?

Another problem.. I decided to use rockwool but have no experiences cutting it.
What density works better?? I can only find Roxul's Curtain Rock 80 (rigid, 6.5 lb/ft3) and SAFE (not SAFE n' SOUND, semi-rigid, 4.5 lb/ft3), which one to go??

Many, many, and many thanks!!

Most of this is explained in my Acoustics FAQ. Again, you treat as much corner surface as possible. That, and the reflection points on the side walls and ceiling.

Since there's a half in the tittle I though I'd use it instead of making a new one.. (you'll see my point with the half thing in the last sentance btw)

I'm about to make myself some broadband absorber with some roxul safe n sound (yes I'm on a really tight budget) Roxul - Roxul Safe'n'Sound for wood studs 24 In. on centre - 250002 - Home Depot Canada
I'm renting right now and the room is fairly large (maybe 20'x30') but I'll be moving in 3 or 4 months. So I want a basic kit that I can compliment later.
I'll be starting a projet next week and I won't do this one in a room with no treatment at all.

Would you say I'd be better off with 8 pannel 3" thick or 4 pannel 6" thick. (I've read that 4" is the way to go but safe n' sound doesn't come this way).

Thanks in advance

Having more panels that are thinner is definitely better. Proof here:
