UltraSuede fabric

Hi All,

I got a request to add some UltraSuede wall fabric into a new control room design.

Does any one have any acoustic data on frequency absorbsion and acoustic transparancy if any?

Cheers!

Lightbulb

Have you asked the manufacturer for data? Generally, anything with "suede" in the name will not be acoustically transparent, though it could be fine for covering bass traps.

One thing you could do is get a sample and see if you can blow through it. If you can then it is fine.

Samples

Hi Ethan and Glenn,

Thanks for the quick replies.

I have contacted Knoll Ind. They have done some acoustic measurements on their "UltraSuede" textile. I am waiting to hear back from them on that.

I believe that some of the rooms bass treatments will be covered with it.

The sample I have does have a light backing or liner on the back but I suspect it's apart of how it is made.

I'm going to modify my loudspeaker test set up in my shop and do some quick overall tests.

I'm happy to share the results with anyone who would be interested.

Thanks again, and Cheers!

Bruce
