can there be too much bass trapping..?

i have a small room... 12x12, and its square
the hole back wall is layered with rockwool 4inches thick with 2x4 wood dividers every 2 feet.
From ceiling to the floor the hole back wall it treated this way with burlap coving the rockwool...
i was thinking about adding 9-12 24x48 basstraps in the room along with the huge back wall trap.

is that to much or no such thing?

im using jbl lsr4328s and hr824s... i have a jbl lsr4312 subwoofer also but havent set it up in the room yet b/c i figured it would be too much at the moment.

You can never have enough bass traps, at least in a square room. The usual suggestion would be to go for FSK facing so the room would not sound too dead in the higher range frequencies. FSK will also help with the absorption in the lower range so it's a win win.

It is not so much of "to much" but how you're applying it. You do want to cover the back wall, but you should space what you have 2 to 4" off the wall. Either that or use 6" panels. For the rest of the bass traps STRADDLE corners in the room. That really is the way to help tame the bass problems in a room. As spol said you can use FRK on the facing to help keep the high end in the room.

Before you add to the thickness, work on the corners before hand. See how the room sounds, then add to the back wall.

I'm in a 13'x15' room using 4328's with no sub and I have five 6" traps, 14 4" traps and five 2" panels.

It's hard to use too much.

Sheesh, Frank, only 21 panels? That's nowhere near enough!

thanks guys... no such thing as to much. i'll add traps in the corners, FRP.. see how it sounds and start adding more traps around the room... im thinking about doing the whole room the way i did the back wall... cover all the walls with bacl and burguny burlap... i think it would look good and sound good.. my main issue is i have a drop ceiling thats only 8feet.
BTW the room is 14x15.. i measured today

I am not so sure I would cover all the walls. You will end up absorbing all the mids and highs but some of the bass would be swimming in the room. Cover EVERY corner (all 12 of them) then see how it sounds.
