CR: diffusor between speakers?

Hi
Control Room:
Would you recommend having a diffusor behind my two LCD monitors, between the nearfield speakers? I have absorption panels behind each speaker but nothing between. Or will a diffusur mess up the stereo image?

thanks

Hi!

I use a 4" panel between my monitors -speakers - (which are front ported and very close the front wall) .The panel works fine in the 200/500 hz range and for image.

That won't hurt, but it won't help much either because your speakers face away from that wall. A much better place for diffusion is the rear wall behind you.

Just to clarify, diffusion works great on the back wall if you have over 6 feet between you and the back wall. I myself recommend thick absorption right behind you, with diffusion around that.

thanks guyes

My control room is small and, yes I already have diffusors on the back to kill flutter echo. and I also have absorbtion panels on the sides and behind the monitors and on the front wall. And bass traps in one corner So the room is kinda dead end front/live end rear. Its overall on the dead side. I thought maby the empty wall between my speakers would enhance some standing waves or comb filtering. The room is small so the front wall and speakers are close. Since the speakers face away from that front wall comb filtering will not be an issue right?

I just traded my old crt`s for some new LCD`s so It kinda made an open space between the speakers and the image changed a little.

thanks again

As said before putting diffusion there is not going to do much. If you are looking to try to liven up the room, remove some of the panels that are on the back side walls (behind where you sit) and replace those with diffusion.
