Bass Trap Dimensions

Hello, I'm going to build bass traps and the material I have available is 6cm (~2.4") thick rigid Rockwool and comes in 50cm (~19.5") by 80cm (~31.5") sheets. I plan to double the thickness for 4.8" and put them in the corners of the room.

Most of the plans I've seen call for 24" wide x 48" tall panels. If I make mine 19.5" wide, is that enough or should I make them 31.5" wide. If 31.5" wide, would 39" tall (2 x 19.5") be enough or should I triple it to 58.5" tall?

Hope my questions make sense.

The 2' x 4' measurements you often see, are because that is the standard size per sheet in the US. Regarding your question, the wider, taller, and thicker...the better.

Spot on. 19.5" is a little slim though...as John said, the wider, taller and thicker they are the better. If that's all you have available though, then by all means use it...it certainly beats the heck out of doing nothing.

Thanks for the help, dykstraster and Weasel9992. I think I'll make the traps 31" wide and see how that works out.
