My Fuzzmeasure results plus rooms pics, help please!

Hi guys,

I've recently moved into a new room which I have begun to treat with broadband/corner traps.
I've done some measurements with fuzzmeasure and they confirm what I've been hearing (please see graph)

Big dip in the 60-80hz range which is crucial because I do a lot of bass heavy dance music. This dip is also causing the notes around the 120-140hz range to jump out, a lot.

The room is not rectangular, with the left wall angling inwards half way back (please see sketch)

The width of my room is 9 feet, height 8.1feet, length approx 18feet.

Is is a case of just treating more corners and do think the room can be significantly improved?

I've already treated the front two corners with big corner traps, the ceiling, side and rear walls with 4" broadband traps. From the pix, you can also see the ceiling steps down about a foot toward the rear of the room.

Many thanks in advance,

Jamie.

YES.

Also did you try to move back or forward to see if the dip becomes less?

I did, this just moves frequency of the dip. Close to the wall = 80hz, further from the wall = 60hz

Does the graph look like I'm measuring properly? Looks fine to me, just wanted to check.

Yes and Yes.

This is typical, and proves (yet again) that peaks and nulls can happen at any frequency in a small room - not just frequencies that correspond to room dimensions.

Not that I am going to do this, but if you were to try and trap more specific frequencies to help tackle this particular null, what would they be? Would taming the 120hz bring up the null or would you have to try and tackle the 40-50hz region? Or both?

I am just curious, or is it best not to view it it these terms?

Many thanks for the previous replies.

Jamie.

You could build a tuned bass trap. I believe Ethan has plans for it on his personal website.

If I was to build a tuned trap what frequencies would be best to target? Those within the null or those around it?
