reflective, absorption, or diffusion ?

I track and mix in a one room (approx. 13x15 ) and my mix position has me sitting about 3 feet out from a wall. This isn't even the worst of my problems though. The walls were previously covered in ductboard (compressed fiberglass), with carpet over that, to try and soundproof, NOT acoustically treat, obviously.

To try and improve the sound of the room, I have installed "rolled fiberglass" basstraps in two corners (the room only has 3 right angle corners), a cloud over the drumset, as well as some reflective surfaces on parts of the walls.

I have already put some reflective material directly behind mix position, but was wondering if I should replace that with some 703 panels perhaps, or maybe some diffusors?

Above the mix spot go with rigid fiberglass or mineral wool panels. Read about diffusion here GIK Acoustics presents "How Diffusion Works!"

As far as the corners, did you stuff a bunch of the fluffy fiberglass? it is best to leave it in the roll and stack it floor to ceiling.

Yes, I used the rolls of fiberglass, left in the plastic, with muslin fabric over that, .. but, it is only stacked about 4' high(3 rolls I believe), per corner.

When you say "above the mix spot", do you mean a ceiling cloud? If so, I was planning on doing that at some point. Which # rigid fiberglass is best for that?

My main question is what should I put BEHIND mix position, which is only about 3 feet back. Currently it is carpeted (like the rest of the room, uggg!!),but I did put up some reflective surfaces interspersed behind me. So, do you think I should replace the reflective stuff with perhaps some rigid fiberglass like the 703?

Thanks

703 or 4-6lb mineral wool is fine.

Yes...considering your situation as a whole, 4" or 6" panels behind you would work out better than anything reflective, even if it's true diffusion.

Would 2" thick panels do me any good at all? It's already pretty cramped behind me.

Maybe I'm over thinking this, but should I put up some 2x4 panels side by side (touching each other), or leave a space between them,... should they be dead center of the wall, or ceiling to floor ?

Sorry, just trying to make the best out of a crappy room.
