Products identical to 705, from Isover?

Hi there,

Anyone knows if there exists a product from Isover that are similar to 705 in Rigidness and density?

I can't find any Owens Corning products in my aria. (Denmark, Europe)

Some might say that could I use something from Rockwool instead, but I've heard that they aren't as Rigid as 705's and I want to build some frame-less boards for basstraps.

Thank you,
/Peter

You could check out the Isover UNI 36 (or 33) which is normally used for isolation or perhaps the Isover Piano series.

I don't know OC so I can't really compare though.

There is a product called Isover Cleantec Plus, that´s the one you want.

It´s rigid, has improved low frequency absorbtion and perforated aluminium on one side.

Comes in 120*120 cm panels, 6 per package.

Thanks for the link!

The only thing is that the density is lower than OC 703, I don't think it will work well...

If it is used thick enough you can use less dense products. How are you building the treatment and is it used for bass trapping or reflections?

I want to make some Basstraps and reflection boards , frame-less with some fabric on them. I thought about making some 6" boards for the corners, behind the speakers and on the wall behind me. And a cobble of 4" boards for the side reflections.

Thinking I could get away with something like 703 for the Basstraps and something similar to 705 on the side walls.

How does that sound to you?

Thanks a lot!

I'm also thinking of using Isover Fasadskiva 31 for my corner traps.

http://www.isover.se/sw9358.asp?showproduct=ja&idnr=3110a&typ=bygg
The density is 58kg/m3.

Does anybody know if Fasadskiva 31 has some kind of backing? It looks as if it might have some kind of paper or something glued to one of the faces.

Our local supplier (our studio is in a village) has a large variety of glasswool, mostly ISOVER TP-... series, so I can order just about any density I want. We usually use 40kg for everything, inside walls, as panels, inside resonators, because it's cheaper to buy in bulk. But they have lots of different densities available.

I just wanted to confirm that Fasadskiva 31 from Isover is a good substitute for Owens Corning 705 and/or 703. The density is 56 kg/m3. I used it for building my bass traps this summer, and they work well.

Nice of you to follow up Amun Ra!
Did it have any backing? If so, what kind?

Hej!

No backing. It's possible to get them 10cm thick, which reduces the amount of cutting. The sheets are quite big, 270*120cm. I payed something like 1100kr for a pack of three sheets.
