Thread Starter | Rockwool density Hi - I'm looking to build some broadband absorbers. Can anyone recommend the correct density of rockwool for the traps? Many thanks. |

| For a 4-inch thick panel, anything between about 4 to 12 pcf should be fine. The thicker the panel, the less density you can get away with. What matters most is having enough bass traps, with the goal to cover as much corner surface as possible. --Ethan

| Lives for gear | I was going to ask this too. Ethan, what do you mean by 'pcf'? The most I know is that Sound On Sound just recommended 45kg/m3 to 60kg/m3 as the best density. I didn't realise the depth of the panel also affected this. As I write this I just got a quote from a builders merchant saying they have 50 and 60kg/m3 (hopefully not metres squared, didn't hear actually). I'll do a search as well, but please can you link me to these legendary 'build you own acoustics' articles? Didn't spot them on your realtraps site.

| Pounds per cubic foot. Multiply kg/m3 by 0.06 to get pcf. |

| Just to add you can cut the rockwool into 17"x17"x24" triangles and stack them floor to ceiling. If going that way stick with the 4 pound. Glenn
