Ceiling soffit

Hey all,

I've been kicking around this plan for my room. The soffits will house small recessed lights and have a wood veneer face. I'm hoping to double this soffit as a bass trap. Any thoughts on this?

Make the soffit as large as possible. And obviously the casing needs to be porous or thin so bass can get through to the insulation inside.
