Thread Starter | Who's using ultratouch cotton? Anyone try the R-30 yet?
About to buy some R-19, but before i do, i wanna hear your story. Did you treat your studio with homemade ultratouch cotton traps? Did you come across any problems that you had to address? Are you happy with the thickness you bought? Would you do anything differently next time? (chose R-19 for the price and it seems to be the most popular one at this time, according to the manufacturer in NY that i spoke to) The R-30 is super thick and new, anyone try it yet? I'm assuming people are spacing the R-19 away from the walls, just like a regular bass trap. that's what i plan to do. how bout that R-30, probably would work more like a triangle corner trap than anything else, huh? wouldn't really need to space R-30 far out from the wall, i'm guessing... |

For bass traps the thinner ultratouch spaced is better. See this thread for a technical explanation. Andre Last edited by avare; 19th September 2008 at 12:57 AM.. Reason: Corrected word spacing |

| You are welcome. It is difficult at times to answer seemingly simple questions with simple answers when "why" is asked in regards to acoustics. I hope you read through the threads. It provides a good example of the importance of test data, the underlying physics involved, and interpreting the data. As you read, the best option in this case goes against what is taken as accepted generalizations. Anything else would give no improvement, or worse performance, acoustically. The key factor in this case is the exact material being considered. Details can be, and usually are if not understood, critical. Good luck and keep questions coming! Andre |
