So, I would like to know either a)is there actually a more precise agreed-upon value for the fluffy pink, or b)how can I predict the effect of moving a given thickness of material forward or back within the chamber, taking into account the length of ports extending into the cabinet?
a) don't know... this should be given by the manufacturer

b) yes, by using two-port analysis where you switch the location of the materials within the entire wall if I'm actually understanding what you are asking. There's software for this matter like WinFlag or if you have patience (a lot of it) you can program it in Matlab.

What angle of incidence are you using? What is your % open area?

Good question,

You can still use two port analysis, but you will have to modify the impedance of the port/cabinet part I presume.
