Thread Starter | What COUCH?
I'm moving my studio into a much larger space! ![]() And every studio needs a couch behind the mix position. Is there any cool couch with value-adders in terms of bass trapping etc? Anything to avoid? |

Make sure it's sleepable. The big poofy couches are sometimes hard to nap on IMO.

1) You could build one. 2) Or get a couch that is as "open" as possible so sound can get through it to bass traps you put in the wall-floor corner. Something like this would be ideal acoustically: ![]() Or even this: ![]() --Ethan

Wicker often is noisy... I was thinking maybe I get a hide-a-bed and stick 703 where the mattress was. Seriously, I've read articles about studios that had custom couches that were bass traps. Surprised no one has mentioned these as a possibility. |

If you're room is properly treated you shouldn't need the extra trapping - too much sucked out can make the room 'difficult' I recommend leather - easy to wipe stains off !

...I ended up with a cute little leather loveseat. But I'm probably going to be in the market for more twaps soon! |

We always use those inexpensive IKEA love seats. I think they rum about 2 bills plus whatever color you want. I have been pretty amazed how well they work. They are also great to curl up on for a nap and are kinda disposable for those drunken "dude don't throw up on the...." sessions. |
