Thread Starter | FRK or Plastic I was looking for FRK at the usual hardware store around here but keep getting the same confused look on everyone's faces. Even after commenting Foil Reinforced Kraft, as one put.."Never heard of it in the 30 years I 've worked here"...lol. Anyways, is plastic going to work more or less the same? I've seen it done that way many times before.

| It will work similarly. If you want FRK and 703 type material, look in the yellow pages under Insulation. BTW there is an insualtion company near you that makes a similar product (FSK). Ottawa Fibre Inc. ![]() Andre |

| If you have no luck with Ottawa Fibre Inc you can also contact Bryan (bpape, who also works with me at GIK) at Sensible Sound Solutions osCommerce. He has a small company that sells acoustic DYI products. ![]() Glenn

Thread Starter | Thanks Andre and Glenn for the info. I just moved to Ottawa in Jan. Thanks for the heads up on Ottawa fibre! Called them, got a local distributer and they have 48'x150" rolls of the FSK in stock. Unfortunately @ $78.xx a roll I didn't really need that much. Only 16'. I already had the 2 bags of rockboard 60 so I just need the frk for my corner traps. Good find though. Maybe I can talk the distributer into giving me just 16' but probably not. Anyways thanks for the info guys. Appreciate it. |

| Glen: My humour was lost in the post. GPI lives in Ottawa and one of the major manufacturers of wanted product is not only based in Ottawa but has Ottawa in its name. GPI: The type of material we are writing about is used commercial applications. If you do some research looking for HVAC, heating, and boiler services you can probably find a company that has the quantity you are looking for leftover form a contract. IOW you might be able to get to get for a low price or even free! Andre |

Thread Starter | And to add to that, OttawaFibre is 5 mins from where I am....go figure. After looking through the product line, I think the OFI-72 is the equivalent to 703 and rockboard 60, for future reference. I already asked the contractor that did the cracked foundation on my new old place and he says he'll get me 16' np. Thanks again Andre for pointing that out! Now that my head is out of the clouds I think I might be able to finish up this room ![]() |
