Soffits and bass traps

If I were to build soffits in the two front corners of my mix room for my monitors, would it be useful to make the space above and below superchunks?

Thanx, D

I hope I used the term "superchunk" correctly; I'm talking about a triangular, filled corner, 24 x 17 x 17. When I build the soffit for the speakers to those dimensions, will it be acceptable for the bass traps to have a hard (like plywood or paneling) exterior? And will a blown-in insulation work as a bass trap in the corners?

Thanx, D

No for the face of the trap you do not what to use anything hard, just fabric.

the benefit of this type of design is you will be treating the "tri corner" of the 2 walls and ceiling/floor. Just go all the way to the floor and ceiling!

Is blown-in insullation viable for this?
