| speaker stands Hi I wonder if anyone can advise me if this is a good idea or not? My current speaker stands place the centre of the woofers on my monitors at exactly halfway between the floor and the ceiling. From what I understand they should be raised or lowered by about 6 inches to avoid modal problems. Unfortunately my stands aren't adjustable and the only ones I can find in the UK that are cost around 500 quid. What I was thinking was to balance the speakers on something like china cones on top of breeze blocks or stone slabs stacked up to the right height. Does anyone know if this would be effective, or would I need to de-couple the speakers further? Thanks in advance for any advice |

| Why not just raise your speakers by putting your existing stands on a few slabs of concrete? A 90cm pile of stone slabs seems like a mighty hassle... |

| speaker stands Thanks for the replies guys. Yes that would be a lot easier. I suppose I was considering lowering the speakers. If I raise them by 6 inches I'll have to get a higher office chair to get my head at the right height and my feet won't touch the ground (still cheaper than adjustable stands).I might see what they're like on their sides, though Dynaudio (BM15 A's) recommend them to be placed vertically. |

| If they measure out right, cinder blocks stacked up wrapped in fabric can be a pretty good solution. Pretty solid and the price is right.
