Ceiling Coverage

I have a large concrete room that I will be mixing in and have been struggling with affordable methods to treat my ceiling with. It is about 14x10' although not completely square. The ideal set up would be to have acoustical blankets across the top but these are quite pricey. I suppose I could be a thinner blanket (in the 1" thick range) and then have insulation between the blanket and the ceiling.

Any ideas or recommendations?

That room is not really very large, and that material is not very expensive. But if it's expensive to you, I suggest you get fluffy fiberglass and use that for treatment. If it's at least three inches thick it will help a lot.

Yes that would work in the early reflection points, but not much for the bass range. For that you would want to use rigid fiberglass or mineral wool in the corners.

Gotcha, the corners will be "trapped" (thanks largely in part to your advice) but I was more concerned with the flat plane. It's quite possible I was looking at the overpriced stuff but what specifically were you guys thinking in place of the fluffy (R-19 or other)?

Thanks!
