First Panel Done

Didnt take long at all. Maybe and hour. Next ones will be quicker. I will assembly line them. Im using 2" Roxul 60 panels (2' x 4'). For the lumber I used 1x3 premium furing strips (Lowes). I cut those at 4' for the sides and 25 1/2" for the top and bottom. I joined those by utilizing a corner clamp and 1 1/2" drywall screws. I pre-drilled and c'sank the holes for a flush finish. I then rounded all sharp edges. Next I stretched and stapled the burlap (JoAnn Fabrics). Then I placed the Roxul panels in. They were a nice tight fit. When I was at Lowes I bought some 24" insulation hangers. I thaught they would be over 24 " wide, and went ahead and got them. Well they are exactly 24". They are designed for 24" on center building applications and are put in between the joists (with a bow in them) to hold up insulation. So I was thinking at least 25". Nope !!! But I got them to work by drilling some holes for them to stick into the corners. The next one I will staple some old 1/8" molding I have onto the inside (at 3 places) to shrink the inside dimension so I can put the wires straight across. I will post a pic of the next one. I am making 16 of these (1/2 black and 1/2 white) to go with the red walls in the control room. The black ones I am going to paint the wood edge facing out black. You can see from the picture the wood showing through. Anyway, Im gonna head back out and get some more done. Here are some pics

That assembly fixture is a good idea. Bet it saved a ton of time.

Its an 84, I gave it to my daughter and she has been working on it. The car has 84,000 mile on it. Not bad, but its rusting in places. Shes doing the body work on it when she has time. The engine is in great shape, no worries there. Needs new urathane busings, exhaust and put back together. Hopefully by October it will be road ready. Then winter is here. So next spring she will be driving it. Here is a old pic of my baby. 91 Twin Turbo. Its a 425hp rocket on wheels.

I myself am more into the Boxsters/911s but there is something about those 300z that always catch my eye. My father had a 84 and I always thought it was a pretty cool little car.

I am sure that the younger guys on here are thinking "wow would not mind to see a picture of that guys daughter!!!!!!!!!!" Girls that can work on cars are almost as hot as female bass players!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So you might be happy Frank but you might want to also get a big stick to keep the guys away.

I was going to reply to your post on recording.org but they don't allow attachments. This is in response to your question about spacing them off the walls. This assumes Rockboard 60 is 25,000 rayls (anyone know what it is for sure?).

My son is the Porsche guy. Dont get me wrong, if I had the money Id have a new 911 over a Z. But the Z's are a bargain at this point in their life. Nice 300Z Twin Turbos (1990-1996) can be had for under 10k in great shape. And for about an extra $500 in add ons the HP goes from 300 (stock) to close to 400 hp. Its freaky to be driving 55mph and drop it into 3rd and punch it and the ass end breaks loose. These cars are scarey fast. The G'force is so cool. Your face feels like its being smashed when the turbos spool up. So much fun. Ive been over 160 in it a few times. The speedo goes to 160 and I was still going strong. Lots of fun !!!! Well I just got back from getting wire and hangers. I need to get back out and stretch the burlap. Waisted the day so far and didnt get a thing done.

My son says he would love an older Nissan Skyline. Too bad it wasnt a US release. Suppose to be the best drift car around. The new Nissan GT-R looks sweet

She is actually a cheer leader, 3.8 gpa, all around great kid. I have 3 daughters and all are so different and all very much good kids. Oldest 23 is graduating college this weekend (fine art major). The 17 year old is the one above (car nut). And the 15 year old is the free spirited one (she started a food fight her last day of 6th grade). She spent her last day in the Principals office :). I have a 19 year old son (the drummer) who leaves Sept. 22 for the Navy. So my house is always busy.

Sounds like a great time. I was hoping to work some more on the panels today. But I got tied up with other things. Tomorrow is daughters graduation. So Sunday seem like a plan to work on them.
