Insulfoam Polystyrene Panels

I got a few panels of 2'x4'x2" Insulfoam Polystyrene to test in a small tracking room. I am looking to reduce some flutter echo for now (it's pretty intense when I clap my hands). The Insulfoam seems to reduce it quite well (not as well as my 2" 703 panels). I have read that not only does Polystyrene not absorb anything, but that it reflects quite well. However, this does not seem to be the case when I put them in my room. Am I missing something here?

During a second listen with the polystyrene panels up; I noticed the flutter echo seemed to be contained a little, but that there was now a "ping" frequency along with the flutter echo. A very irritating sound!

Are these panels good for anything? Perhaps if they were cut up into skylines diffusers?

Sorry Matt, I am not aware of any acoustic applications for that material. About the only thing I can suggest is if you handy at fiberglas layup, make a pattern and then layit and get a light weight diffusor.
