Finished making first absorber panel and have a question..

Hi all,
I've finished making my first bass traps, at last

It was fun to make them(and quite tiring). My panel dimension are 240cm x 60 cm.I used two of 2" thick, 50kg/m3 density fiberglass. It means four 2" fiberglass for every panel.I covered them with a highly breathable fabric and put them at the front corners.Since panels are 240cm length, they cover the corners from floor to ceiling.
The only thing concerns me is that the left corner has an unusual construction , so i couldn't fit the panel exactly at the corner. So there is a bit more space than usual, between the panel and the corner...(I'll post the photos this evening)
Since i know it's good to have air gap behind the panel, i'm corious if too much gap reduces low frequency absorption.
Anyone wants to clarify this situation?
Thanks

I am guessing we are talking about broad band bass traps right? When straddling the corner it is best to have the edges touching the side walls. There is a theory that it creates a spring action when the sides are touching. Some believe this while other don't, but all and all I would keep it touching if possible. If you can't I would not sweet it to much as it is better then nothing. To really tell if there is a difference you would need to test it with it tight in the corner and not tight.

Hi! I was wondering if the fibreglass could become airbourne thru the breathable fabric. Unless your fibreglass is different (ridgid) to what is supplied here for the building industry. It has fibres, though these are safer now than once upon a time, you still wouldn't want any possibility of breathing the fibres. Hence if you use fibreglass here you must cover with something like painters plastic drop sheet to contain the fibres and then cover with a burlap type material.
I'm interested in what you are using?

anguswoodhead,
sorry but i didn't take photos while making the panels.
I took some photos of my finisihed panels last night but i couldn't find my digital cameras usb cable

Glenn,
yeah, we're talking about broad band bass traps.Next i'll make a bit shorter panel for that problematic corner and it'll touch the side walls.Btw, i'm planning to use fiberglass with FRK(FSK, same thing?) for the next corner bass traps.Because i don't want my room to be too dead. And according to what i read from Ethan's articles, it absorbs more low end than the plain fiberglass.

Hi jinksdingo,
Choosing the fabric was the hardest job for me.I was really afraid of fiberglass particles to escape from the panel. Then i was tired of thinking that, and i purchased an ordinary, soft , made of cotton, porous fabric. It's a "local" fabric and has a local name.
Buuuuut, after working with rigid fiberglass i noticed that it's not a problem.Fiberglass won't escape through the porous fabric easily.Anyway, you'll put them where they belong and never touch them again, right?.Then they stand still.I made them, put them in my room and i've never felt itchy.
Don't worry so much about choosing the fabric.Good luck!
I'm still trying to find my usb cable.

That would be the way to go..
