Thread Starter | Portable vocal recording isolation- Voice, Vocal Recording in room! Need Help!
Hey Guys! I 'm a newbie in this vocal stuff so please get me some advice... I don't have possibility to make a separate isolated room for vocal, and I was just wondering if I would buy something like this - a portable vocal recording isolation. (the link below) Do you guys think that it can be a good solution for this, or anyone has better idea? :. Welcome to*Vicoustic .: Thanks Boohna |

those work.....as long as you arent playing a lot of live instruments near it. They are designed to trap reflections and deaden your vocal sound. There are a lot of solutions including vocalbooth.com which is a lot more expensive obviously.... The cheapest way is thick blankets in front or behind the vocalist, so the sound doesn't bounce around and back into the mic. That is what you are trying to accomplish. So to answer your question yes it will help to reduce reflection but not really isolation from other players.....Just have it isolated with the vocalist unless you are overdubbing the vocal alone. |

Interesting, I'd not seen that model. Normally the two products similar to that that come to mind are the SE Reflexion Filter and the RealTraps Portable Vocal Booth. This unit looks to be similar in size and shape to the Reflexion Filter, both of which are much smaller than the PVB (not trying to be an "insulation pimp" here.... ) ![]() I'm not sure how the wood will affect the performance of that unit. All sound with a wavelength longer than the size of the unit -- which looks to be about 13" tall, corresponding to a wavelength of around 1k -- will diffract around the wood barrier. But the bottom line is, all of these devices will change the sound of your recordings, and for the better if you use them well.
