Wire Mesh Bass Traps ?

Would it be possible to build bass traps by making wire mesh frames ( eg wedges / rectangles ) and filling them with rockwool etc ?

I'm crap with wood & need a quick cheap fix !

Should work fine if open like chicken wire.

Cheaper and Quicker

Rolls of Attic Insulation. Leave it in it's plastic wrapping, stack it in the corner. Cover with fabric if for cosmetics.

Wouldn't the plastic wrapping prevent some/a lot of the bass energy from entering the material?

With using mesh, at which point do you start worrying about diffusion from the mesh density?

I assume standard 1" chicken wire shouldn't have much of an effect?

You don't. The wire is too small to cause difusion.
