Need advice: Room acoustic treatment (this must be the 1000th :) )

Hi all,

I am sure this is the 1000th time somebody is asking this question but due to the uniqueness of each room I think its not too unfair to ask it once again

Please advice on what and where in this room I could put some acoustic material. I couldn't do proper tests without a measurement mic, Ive just used my SPL meter's output and the meter itself to test the bass end and (to my abilities) I found that I have especially problems at 90Hz which I think has the same wavelength with the rooms size from front to back?

I am attaching a bad drawing of the room with photoshop (Sorry :( ) maybe it helps..

Also, I would like to add something that might help in giving me advice. I am thinking about buying three plywood or anything similar but hard, and disable the three windows in the back of the desk by screwing them securely on the windows frames together with acoustic strip beneath. This will create the opportunity of being able to put some acoustic tiles on those plywood panels.

Also, forgot to add,

Lets say Ive found out which frequencies are problematic, how can I know which walls are creating this problem, for example I don't hear 90hz, does this mean its the back wall? (because its about 4.5-4.6 meters away from the speakers?)

Here's my standard blurb and it applies to your room too:

Room treatment is a deep subject, and a complete answer requires far more than will fit into a single reply here. So here's the short version. All rooms need:

* Broadband (not tuned) bass traps straddling as many corners as you can manage, including the wall-ceiling corners. More bass traps on the rear wall behind helps even further. You simply cannot have too much bass trapping. Real bass trapping, that is - thin foam and thin fiberglass don't work to a low enough frequency.

* Mid/high frequency absorption at the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling.

* Some additional amount of mid/high absorption and/or diffusion on any large areas of bare parallel surfaces, such as opposing walls or the ceiling if the floor is reflective. Diffusion on the rear wall behind you is also useful in larger rooms.

For the complete story see my Acoustics FAQ.

There's a lot of additional non-sales technical information on my company's site - articles, videos, test tones and other downloads - linked under my name below.

This is the room by the way..I understand that its a deep subject and its not easy to say anything before actually testing it yourself..but based on your experiences do you think there will be a big bass buildup in the back of the speakers due to shape?

Could be, but most of the problem is you are way to close to the front wall.
