Need Help With Bass Trapping

I have a one room studio/control room. I have done some treatment in the live/recording end of the room and it is sounding pretty good.

In the end I use for control room/mixing I'm having a little more difficulty. Right where I sit to mix/monitor it is very bass shy. About4 feet in front of that spot it is fairly bass heavy. Should I place more trapping at the bass heavy spot to try to tame that node or try to do something (What??) in the bass shy mixing spot?

Needless to say, my mixes end up bass heavy even though I try to walk back and forth between the two bass extreme spots and compensate. It' just not a good situation.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, ROD

I think your "chasing your tail" a little.

Start by setting up correctly in the room by placing yourself 38% of the room length. Straddle as many corners as possible with bass trapping. You may find that playing a panel behind each speaker with also help further.
Bass trapping needs to go against the wall not out in the middle of the room.
