bass trap placement in VO booth

I'm re-doing my vocal booth which is really a treated corner surrounded by removeable heavy curtains which make up the other 2 "walls" for complete or partial isolation. Currently the corner has been covered in auralex, but I'm going with 4" thick 2x4 703 panels for the new layout.

singers have their back to the corner and will face outward away from the traps towards the mic. when placing the traps should I butt them up against each other to completely close the corner or leave a gap in the corner and have the traps several inches apart?

thanks!

Are you straddling the corner with panel?

hi Glenn,

That's what I'd like to do but I can't afford the space. Using a 4" thick trap would cost me a total of 13 inches of depth right behind a singer and it feels too claustrophobic at that point. wish I had more room, but I've sqeezed every inch I can. here's a pic.

Lightbulb

Two 4-inch thick panels flat on both walls where they meet is very good too, and doesn't impinge nearly as much into the room. Likewise for the wall-ceiling corners.
