Thread Starter | Bass Trap Question
Is it the fact that the bass trap is mounted on a frame and a room corner that makes it effective or if I could just pack a big amount of 6'' thick fiberglass in the corners of my room would it work too ? Asking because my room is covered by fabric so I can easily remove it it and make fiberglass or rockwool stand behind. It won't be as cool as Shaman's ... |

You don't need the frame. That said, if you're going to do 6" thick panels, with the same amount of material, you can make solid chunk style absorbers 17x17x24" and the same height. That will yield the same surface area, take up less space out in the room, and also reach lower into the deep bass than a 6" panel straddling. Might as well get the most for your money. Bryan

I too was contemplating making my own tri for my corner, but I am calculating that I will need twice as much material than making a 2'x4'x6"..... what am I doing wrong in my calculation. say I have one 6 inch thick 2x4 material....I cut it and it will give me four triangles.... now if I stack this triangles up in the corner.... four triangles at 6 inches would give me 24 inches... so I would end up with somethign that is 2' x 2' and not 2' x 4'. what am I doing wrong in my calculation? edit: I realise it is 8 triangles it makes. thanks rsp |
