Thread Starter | STEVEN P.HELM's design / Broadband absorbers
hi, does anyone have eny experience with this design? mainly with this type of framework. I'm planning on building panels with this design and I'm just wondering if someone has built these and would be willing to give any further info like is there anything that could be done otherwise/more efficiently? thank you edit: link to Stevens design Steven P. I haven't built these traps but i have employed the metal corner bead into the traps i've built. I recycled the wood, burlap, Owens corning from the panels I made years ago. I then used this method to build the traps YouTube - How to make a Bass Trap Acoustic Panel (Tutorial) I made frames with the corner bead and used these as the front of the trap. The reason i did this was so that when i wrap the fabric on the trap it wouldn't look like a big ass pillow and instead had a squared looking trap. I didn't use the polyester technique Steven used either. If i did i would have used it inside the frame instead of wrapping it around the frame, mainly for aesthetic reasons. As for the reflections of the metal the polyester would dampen, i wasn't to worried about it. Besides, most bass trap companies have some type of metal framing thats exposed and aren't to worried about the reflections the may cause. |

that looks like a nice design, actually. I think metal is in may ways preferable to wood for traps.

I've made nearly 15 panels with that youtube vid design and they work very well. They're low cost, easy to put together and not too bad looking either. Our live-room still requires few more so guess what I'm doing next week..
