Bass trapping without losing all the high end?

My control room is pretty tiny and need lots of bass trapping but I don't want it to sound dead.

Are there any alternatives to having fabric covered 703 yet still have effective bass trapping?

Thanks in advance?

This is the reason I recommend membrane traps for bass trapping. A membrane trap will give you a slight boost in the low end absorption, and it won't kill the high end in the room the way plain absorption will.

Are there any links or info for building/buying this type of trap?

Thanks again.

Helmholtz style traps also do this, , such as slat/slot traps and perforated panel designs. However, there are some calculations to do to make sure they are most effective at the proper frequencies for your room. There are also techniques that will broaden the Q of them, but they still will have maximum attenuation at a particular center frequency.

Master Handbook of Acoustics by F. Alton Everest has a wealth of knowledge for DIYers. It contains information on all of these techniques and more. It's one of those books that everybody should have on their shelves.

Thanks again.
For buying there are many. For building you would want to use a FRK faced OC703 or OC705 products.
