Thread Starter | Mineral Wool Density
I have in my notes that with OC703 or other Fiberglass insulation, you need a density of 3-6lb. Is this the same with Mineral Wool? I keep running into 2.5 material. thanks |

It is best to use 3 to 8 pound of the mineral wool. The 2.5 will work but you need to make it pretty thick for bass trapping. Glenn

it shouldn't be too hard to find a thicker density.

Ok, i just found it. 24"x48"x4" in a 4lb density. They call it Safing. Example: Minwool-1200 safing 4pcf Will the 4pcf work for a 4" bass - low mid trap? Thanks |

anyone use 10 lb mineral wool in 2". I found 10 lb 2" and the 4lb 4". Do you think the 10 lb is too dense and will reflect too much of the higher frequencies back?? It was way cheaper than 703, but if it's too dense I need to take it back and get 703... Matt |

| Lives for gear | Equivalents
703 has a density of 3 pounds per cubic foot = 48 Kg per cubic metre. 705 is double that. Rockwool needs to be a little denser, say a quarter, to achieve the same absorption as glass. So 703 equivalent in Rock would be 4 pcf 60Kg. RS60 or RW3. DD |
