where to get rockwool?

im trying to purchase a bunch of 6" rockwool for my bass traps but i can't seem to find the damn stuff anywhere

! i contacted all of my local hardware stores, lowes, home depot, etc. and none of them carry it, half of them dont even know what it is. where are some places in the US to get this stuff from. and also, it is expensive?

Local hardware stores won't sell the stuff as it's too bulky to carry/only generally used in the building trade. Find a proper builders trade merchant. Their should be at least one in your area (hell knows there's loads in mine!)

In addition installers of air-conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment. There is nothing unique about Rockwool. Ask by the generic description of "32kg/m^3 density mineral wool." The density is not critical either. You can use 48 or 64kg/m^3 material as well. Knauf has such products in the UK.

See if there is an spi dealer near you:

And/or, look in the yellow pages under insulation contractors. They can either sell to you directly or tell you where to get it.
