Treat me right . . . acoustically.

I need some help everyone . . .

Our company has just moved to a new building, which means I had to uproot my studio. I'm now using a glorified conference room as my sound studio

It's a cozy little room, but the ceilings are much higher than the older space and I've got a huge window for a wall. I've put up some acoustic treatment, but I'm still left with some wide open reflective spaces to contend with.

I'm thinking I'll put something over that window, maybe a curtain or fabric blinds, but I'm not sure what to do about the high ceilings and corners.

It's primarily a room for composing, sound-design, and mixing. I do very little recording. Picts included.

If this were your room, what would you put where?

Thanks!

What is the size of the room? Are you set up against the longest wall? You should be facing the shortest wall and firing the speakers down the longest. Also i see skylines in the early reflection points (or close to it) which really is not going to work in a room that size. Here is a layout that might work for you.

Thanks Glen. I am set up against the longest wall. It wouldn't be difficult to swing the desk around though.

Regarding the rear surrounds . . . should I have panels between them and the back wall?

Yes absorption would work best there.
To be honest with you unless you are a good 5 to 6 feet from a diffusor it really is not going to work right, so you may be better off with just absorption and "MAYBE" a little diffusion behind you, on the back left and right walls. For the early reflections on the right and left go with absorption.

Here is a surround set up for you that might help a little

I'm with Glenn that you need to rotate your setup. Here's the full story:

RealTraps - How To Set Up a Room

As for what to put where, you need as many bass traps as you can manage, plus first reflection treatment. What specific pieces you'll get depends on your budget. But bass traps and first reflection absorption will take you 90 percent of the way there in a room like this.
