Best Ratio Between Monitors & Acoustic Treatment $$?

Hi. I'm putting a temporary project studio into a house (4-6 months duration) here in LA for a composer I know. Electronica/Pop/Rock rough mixing and vocal overdubbing.

Here ares some more details: Great converters, voltage regulation and cables. Small table for new 24" iMac (its pretty quiet) and Mackie MCU Pro/C4. Small rack of gear to the left, and a keyboard on a stand to the right. Some amount of noise bleed from street/house (we're in a large bedroom).

So, I've got around $5,000 left for Monitors/Acoustics. How would you split the cash? $2,400 into active monitoring (Dynaudio BM12A or something similar), $200 of stands, and $2,400 into room treatment? Or???

I would really appreciate the advice guys. Thanks.

You could spend $2400 on a room, but really what I would recommend is contacting the acoustic company you will be working with to have them come up with a plan for your room. It really is going to come down to how big your room is and how well you want it treated. I will say that most rooms we do range more into the $1000.00 to $1500 range, so maybe you don't need to really spend that much.

Buy speakers you like and put the rest into room treatment. Maybe half and half?
