Thread Starter | advice: acoustic treatment for home situation
I'm (unfortunately) faced with a scenario where I have to place my studio desk setup and Gennie 8030As very close to (right up against) a wall. What are some ways to keep the sound sweet while preventing the sound from traveling up said wall? Materials to use? Pyramid panels just behind the speakers? I'll be close monitoring for mostly just mixing and mastering, so I'm worried about the wall the speakers face out from, and not so much the rest of the room as I won't be doing much recording. So...any advice on avoiding an added "booming" effect, and also keeping my neighbors from stabbing me would be much appreciated. I've looked at polyester panels, bass traps, etc...what works? And where to place it? Thanks. Last edited by urlmonro; 14th October 2007 at 10:49 PM.. Reason: additions. |

| Depends how small the room is.... But, bass traps in all the corners are generally a good idea. For the baffle effect you get by putting them against the wall, you can counteract that by a low-shelving EQ at about 3dB. For isolation and keeping the neighbors happy: You have to worry about isolation. This is a different kettle of fish. If there are no common walls, then usually making the windows better will be enough. -tINY |
