| Yet another room build question.... The other post going on about room build is very interesting but I would like to through a curve into this. What if you had a room to build that was 11'10" wide, 22'8" length, and has a potential ceiling height of 14"10" before support joist that have either 12 inches or 30 inches of height added to that. Now before you answer, I state "potential" because at the moment there is a wood loft completely cutting the height plain at 7'2". Obviously that has to come out, but what if you want to keep some of it for a lounge / desk area? Would you leave about 8' of loft space above and behind you? Anyone have this going on and what are the acoustical ramifications? Curious. |

| My room is similar at 25' long x 14' wide x 11' high. As I don't have a 2nd room at all (besides a walk in closet that I use as a machine room / storeage space) I opted not to divide any thing up as a lounge area. There's a simple flat desk in one back corner with the office computer on it that clients can use for internet access if they need it (along with wireless access in the room too) - and if they need to take a phone call while I'm still blasting their tunes, I can either pause the work or they can go out into the hall - or like Fonzie into the "office" (aka the bathroom). Not totally optimum but my seriously low attended hourly rates tend to more than make up for this, and so far no client has complained - the producers and artists that attend sessions here nearly always want to get to work and not play video games. To me I'd rather keep the length and height as extended and open as possible so that there are less acoutical problems to overcome, than to partition things. Best regards, Steve Berson |
