Sheetrock on the ceiling...

I'm about readying to apply the first layer of sheetrock on my ceiling in my one room studio. My question is this:

When attaching the second layer of sheetrock to the ceiling (with Green Glue in between) is the sheetrock too heavy to use standard sheetrock screws? Assuming I should attach the strapping with wood screws instead of nails as well?

My room is in the basement. So the ceiling will be attached to strapping and the strapping will be attached the joists over head.
