Thread Starter | Acoustic panels Hello people! I am building a rehearsal studio, and I'm trying to determine whether or not it would be more efficient to use the traditional 2x4 or 2x2 panels, or use 6" x 4' panels. I built the room from the ground up, and without analyzing it it's not bad... there's a little echo throughout and buildup in the corners, which will get of course get bass traps. I'm also not shooting for absolute perfect balance: this is primarily a rehearsal space that I will also record out of here and there, so I have a little tolerance. (I suppose I should expect tolerance if I'm doing it myself, I'm no acoustician!) So, having read some threads here suggesting the two different patterns of wall panels, does anyone have a recommendation as to which works better for them, and in what situation? I would like to track drums mostly using the open space; I can isolate guitars and vox. Thanks for your time! |

6" x 4' (4 inches thick) spaced out about 4 to 6 inches apart from each other, in a room sounds AWSOME!! I just did that in my room and it really is cool. I don't think you need to do all the walls this way, but if you can do 1 or 2 you will really like it. In fact down the road I would like to make that a standard panel in our product line. I am going to email Bryan, the guy who I work with to chime in. He is the one that come up with the idea. Glenn

| That type of treatment is an exceptional value on the rear half of the side walls in and on the rear wall - depending on the situation. The rest of the room should be treated in a more 'normal' sense. The 6" panels (if framed) will provide a nice mix of absorbtion and diffusion Bryan
