wavepanels acoustic treatment opinions?

hi guys,

anyone had any experience with WavePanels acoustic treatment? www.wavepanels.com

It's a bunch cheaper than stuff like RealTraps over here in Australia (a single MondoTrap will set me back $600 AUD here, whereas $500 AUD will get me two corner blocks and 6 corner traps from WavePanels).

Would be nice to know whether the WavePanels stuff is cheaper because it's manufactured locally and escapes shipping costs, or because it's an inferior product being farmed off to the inexperienced consumer.

Anyone?

Maybe I over looked it, but I did not see any lab testing on there web site. You may want to email them and ask them if they do have testing. If not then YMMV

I didn't either.

Just based on the look and their description, it looks like nothing more than std pyramid foam that's been framed.

GIK in Oz?

Thanks for the replies.

Glenn/Bryan, do you have any distributors in Australia yet? I've emailed through your site a few times in the past regarding shipping costs, but am yet to receive a reply.

Or does anyone know of any Australian companies that produce high quality acoustic treatment?

Nothing in Australia as of yet, but if you would email me at glenn.k@gikacoustics.com, I can work up a shipping quote for you. Hell maybe we should just open up a plant there!!! You want to run it??

Foam is not bad, but it has to be the right foam to really work well. Ethan Winer from real traps tested FBM stuff and found it to be fraud.. YOu can read about it here http://www.ethanwiner.com/fraud.html

i just had the same problem:
shipping costs to germany are insane!
i did look at gik and realtraps - both are very nice.
but shipping almost doubled the price (vat, costum etc.).

so i did get some basotect treatment and 4 basstraps.

i am still setting up the new place,
so i am not quite sure if basotect + basstraps are
as good as "owenscorning 703/705" ...

but my first impression is it's working ok.

As for running a plant - sounds like fun, but I spend enough energy trying to find the time to MAKE MUSIC as it is!!
