I just bought a Martin and am in the super babying stage. It is truly beautiful weather today (78 degrees/75%humidity) I want to go sit in my backyard and strum a bit. Is this something that I should never ever do? This guitar doesn't ever have to see the light of day if necessary. I feel like I am being a bit paranoid but would rather keep the guitar in pristine shape. What's the official opinion?

mojo lives in dirty things. Play it wherever, enjoy it, it`s your guitar.

The suns radiation can mess up the finish and dehumidify your guitar in a hurry. I have to kinda agree with Johny though, if you get the most out of it in the sun, go enjoy it! Me myself, I wouldn't think the long term effects are worth it but you could compromise and play in the shade.

No direct sunlight and you should be fine. The sound board needs all kinds of seasoning and the more you play, the better it's gonna start to sound. I know my Larrivee P-10 was so damn beautiful, I was terrified to hurt it in any way. It's a musical instrument play it!
