Thread Starter | Spanish guitar (flamenco style) How to approach?
I have tomorrow a recording session with a Spanish guitarist. He plays in his words "Flamenco from Andalucia" acoustic guitar (with Nylon strings). As fas as I listen Is something like Paco De Lucia's style. So, I never work with this gender really, so if anyone have pointers about what the style requires I'm open to suggestions about mic positions and treatment. PD: I have in my little mic arsenal 2 different sets of stereo pairs mics, 2 large diaf mics and a lot of dynamics, also, Tube and solid preamp. PD2: I don't put the brands because I want a general approach non brand influenced. ![]() Danke!

I play flamenco guitar, and i record myself usually with either an AT4050 or a pair of Shure SM-81's. Here's what the AT4050 sounds like. A bit reverb heavy, my fault. But you get the idea. I try to aim for that Paco, or Gerardo Nunez type sound. You tube makes this clip sound a bit murky. In actuality, the sound is brighter. YouTube - Jucal TK |
