My Blueridge is excellent for the money. I have tried three different models, and they are all huge bang for the buck. They record really well in my experience. If you try one this will all be obvious. The only options to me in their price range is a Seagull (Canadian I think) guitar or for a little more a used Guild, which are terrific. The Blueridge line is for real. Seriously, find one and play it and tell me what you think.

Good luck

Blueridge has various different lines going, and some are better than others.

The Blueridge BR 243 is an excellent guitar. All solid woods, plays well and sounds sweet, also it should be a good recording instrument. My only problem with their design is the small headstock.

Takamine???

I know that you asked this a long time ago. The nut widths on the Blue Ridges, which I've played are a bit narrower than the 1 and 3/4" width that I prefer. The better Blue Ridges seem to be a bit above par compared to most of the other guitars in their price range, but the cheaper ones don't seem like much of a bargain. Generally, what I tell people not looking to spend a lot of money on an acoustic is to look at a Takamine, because they're a hard guitar to beat.

I know a couple of people with BlueRidge guitars. They definitely sound way better than the price of admission. Surprisingly good. They use them for recording a fair bit.
Also I know someone with a guitar called a Recording King....a what? you may ask? Yeah I'd never heard of it either, but if it had a more fashionable name on it, I'd have thought wow that is a nice sounding guitar 'cos it really is. It wasn't a super cheap gat but it sounds like avery expensive one. It's the only one i've seen so I don't know what the rest of them are like.

Blueridge 12 string

I've owned my Blueridge BR140-12 for about a year and a half. It is a good sounding and very well made instrument for the money. I've had no problems with it and would certainly consider Blueridge again. Everyone I know that owns one will tell you that they like theirs. BR make a guitar in nearly every style and to fit every budget so they are definitely worth consideration. Forget the fact that they're Chinese built. All that means is that you get more guitar for your money. The high end models may be a bit too gaudy for some, but I personally prefer highly ornamented instruments...

My experience with Blueridge is they sound great, they feel great and they're very cost efficient but on the short run.

The problem I've seen time and time again with these guitars is they simply break. In a year, the guitar needs some real work or replacing. This isn't caused by mistreatment or poor storage of the guitars, I don't think they treat their wood properly in manufacturing. I'm guessing the wood is still growing when they build their guitars because they haven't properly aged the wood. (This is common in some Squire models.) About a third of the Blueridge guitars I've played have had major issues in the future. Hopefully all that have bought one on this message board, haven't had any problems.

I've had mine for at least 4 years now and it's still great

I tried all kinds of acoustics before I purchased my Larrivee P-10 Parlor.

I thought the Blue Ridge guitars were reasonably well finished even
compared to some of the lower priced Martins.
I just felt like I'd want to see how it sounded in 20 years and to see
if the glues held, the neck stayed straight, that sorta thing.

They felt too new, I guess.

blueridge BR-60

I have the BR 60, outstanding for the buck. it plays well and sounds great. butter-bean tuners, sitka top and good frets. I recorded some with it and the recordings came out high quality. smaller neck but warm clear tone from that top. didn't fare too well with the pick-up but a decent condenser mic loved it.

recently went shopping for a used 000 and came up with a final two of a blueridge and a Martin.

The blueridge had a pickup system already installed and apart from that they were at the same price.

Blueridge played and sounded great, but in the end I got the Martin, which was pretty beat up but sounded and played like decent guitar should.

Only a 000-16 but I was also given a Fishman pickup and preamp, so I am happy.

But the bling on the Blueridge sure was cute to look at.....
